“Fashion has two purposes: comfort and love. Beauty comes when fashion succeeds.”-Coco Chanel

I have a proclivity for retro fashion whether it is 40’s, 60’s, or 70’s style. The time then and the time now have never changed for elegance. I heart vintage and retro styles, and wanted to re-live those times which I don’t belong to. Photography and writing are the best mediums to take you back in time to the bygone era.

By now you all must be waiting for me to elaborate on the title ‘‘Retro Times with Traffic People’. ‘Traffic People’ is a boutique store in London; the collection imbibes a style of vintage fashion. They have a wonderful store at Spitalfields Market, London and their collection is available in many stores around the world. I have often been to this market and whenever I have passed by the car in front of their store it has compelled me to stop and admire. Every time! So when I bought this dress the only thought in my mind was to do a 60’s photoshoot and it had to be shot here.

As I entered the store I just fell in love with everything. They have beautifully kept an old-fashioned touch to their decor. They were kind enough to allow me to take some shots inside their store using their sofa as a prop which helped accentuate the theme. By the time I was finished with the photoshoot, I was so enamoured with what was around me (the clothes, of course) that I ended up buying a nice dress from Traffic People. 😛

Coming to the outfit and the look. The dress, from H&M, the black polka, being a classic print and colour, is evocative of the 60’s style. I know that this dress will be there in my wardrobe for ages and I will never get bored of this print, now the question is whether I will fit into it or not after 10 years…hmm that’s a big concern 🙂 for that you have to follow my blog till then 😛 . I have kept the accessories minimal (a pearl earring and a retro style white round shaped sunglass). In this photoshoot I have used a couple of props. The mirror and the car (property of Traffic People), both looked the epitome of elegance and added a touch of those times. While writing the post I thought what else can I add to make the photos look more appropriate to match the theme. Ah! And then it struck! I had to change the colour tone and voila! I was back in the 60’s. 🙂

As I was checking the photos on my laptop, I felt a happiness to have been able to present it in this way because I always have an inclination towards the retro period. If you all like to read or see movies of those times, I am sure you will understand what I am trying to portray via this post :). A polka dot dress, bright lips, a mirror, a nice vintage car by my side, all add up to my extreme verve.

There are many ways and outfits which you can pick to get the retro vibes. I have just tried one of them and I hope you all will like it. 🙂

Have a super fun and frolic weekend everyone! Enjoy and thanks for dropping in.

 Stay healthy, Stay fashionable
